Zermatt Village and Resort
Leave your car behind: Zermatt can only be reached by taxi or train. The village, which is entirely pedestrianised, is centred around the railway station and the legendary Bahnhofstrasse, where most of the town’s shops and establishments are to be found. The old town has preserved many of its ancestral larch chalets and ‘raccards’, wooden granaries built on stilts.
