Les 3 Vallées Ski Area

Located in the heart of the French Alps in Savoie, Méribel is one of the principal gateways to Les 3 Vallées, the world’s largest ski area. With 85% of its slopes situated above 1,800 metres, the area benefits from reliable snow conditions, while 600 km of pistes link Méribel, Courchevel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville via 160 modern and comfortable lifts. Positioned at the centre of this vast ski domain, Méribel provides the ideal base from which to discover each of these renowned resorts. Rising to 3,230 metres at the Point du Bouchet, the highest point rewards visitors with breathtaking vistas towards the Vanoise National Park and La Grande Casse, and, on crystal-clear days, as far as Mont Blanc. Les 3 Vallées welcomes skiers of every level, with dedicated beginner areas, 340 marked runs ranging from wide blue and red pistes to some of the Alps’ most demanding black runs. The area also features 37 fun zones and snow parks, alongside extensive possibilities for off-piste and freeride skiing.

Méribel Ski Resort

Méribel’s history began in 1938, when Scottish officer Peter Lindsay, captivated by the beauty of its slopes and hamlets, chose this valley as the setting for a new ski destination. This heritage has helped shape the resort’s enduring international appeal, with Méribel continuing to attract discerning British and international visitors. Its architecture, blending wood and stone in harmony with traditional chalet design, combines seamlessly with modern infrastructure while preserving the destination’s distinctive character. Located between 1,450 and 1,700 metres above sea level and surrounded by extensive fir forests, Méribel comprises several neighbourhoods and hamlets, all connected to the ski area by an efficient network of lifts. Among the most sought-after locations, and home to many of the chalets in our collection, are:

Méribel Centre: including the Route des Chalets, where numerous ski-in/ski-out residences and chalets close to the slopes can be found. This is also the resort’s main hub, with its boutiques, hotels, restaurants and bars.
Méribel Les Allues: made up of several authentic historic hamlets that lie at the heart of Méribel’s origins and inspired Peter Lindsay when he founded the resort. Les 3 Vallées ski area is accessible via the Olympic gondola.
Méribel Village: the newest of the three, combines traditional Savoyard charm with a relaxed village atmosphere. Its chalets, converted barns and chapel sit alongside a bakery renowned throughout the valley and the popular Le Lodge du Village restaurant. The Golf chairlift provides direct access to the wider ski area, and the village continues to grow in popularity among visitors.

Celebrated for the quality of its skiing, Méribel is equally appreciated for its warm hospitality and lively après-ski culture, with excellent shopping, vibrant bars and acclaimed restaurants. Deeply rooted in Savoyard culinary traditions, where raclette and fondue remain firm favourites, the resort also boasts a diverse dining scene where regional specialities meet flavours from around the world. For those seeking a memorable afternoon or evening, Méribel is home to some of the Alps’ most iconic après-ski venues, including La Folie Douce, Le Rond Point and Jack’s Bar. Each winter, the resort hosts a programme of prestigious sporting events and competitions, adding to the ambiance of the season and further enhancing Méribel’s reputation as one of the Alps’ leading destinations.
