Luxury Ski Chalets in Zermatt at the Foot of the Matterhorn and Mont Rose

Renowned since the early 19th century for its incredible panoramic views of the highest peaks in the Alps, including Monte Rosa (4,634m) and the slender pyramid of the Matterhorn (4,478m), Zermatt’s network of cog railways and ski lifts set out to conquer the surrounding peaks in the early days of mountaineering and skiing, so much so that the summit of its ski area is now close to 4,000m altitude. Zermatt is a resort for sports enthusiasts, but it also caters for a discerning international clientele. Its unspoilt village, which is entirely pedestrianised, also attracts visitors for its high standards and the quality of its non-sports facilities.  So, it’s hardly surprising that Zermatt and the surrounding area are full of prestigious hotels and top-of-the-range chalet rentals. Our luxury chalet rentals in Zermatt generally have at least 5 en-suite bedrooms. Available in winter and summer, they can be rented by the week and include every amenity to make your stay unforgettable: sauna, jacuzzi, hammam, spa area, home cinema and swimming pool in some cases.

Self-Catered or Catered Luxury Chalet Rentals

For the ultimate relaxation, pleasure and experience, some chalets can include a dedicated house staff, including a chef and butler. Working closely with the chalet staff, our concierge service, with over twenty years of experience in luxury chalet rentals in the Alps, is here to help you tailor your stay. Whether you want to book your ski passes, airport transfers, ski lessons, restaurants or massages and wellness treatments, our team will listen to you and select the best that Zermatt and the Matterhorn have to offer.

Zermatt Ski Area: Matterhorn Ski Paradise

Some of our chalet rentals in Zermatt are part of the recent ‘7 Heavens’ programme. Their location is ideal: the village centre, shopping streets and hustle and bustle are within easy reach, as is the Sunnegga funicular to the ski slopes. With 224 miles of slopes at the foot of Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn, the Matterhorn Ski Paradise straddles the border between Italy and Switzerland, linking the villages of Zermatt, Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche. It’s a guarantee of some of the most breathtaking sports and panoramic skiing you’ll ever experience.

Zermatt Village and Resort

Leave your car behind: Zermatt can only be reached by taxi or train. The village, which is entirely pedestrianised, is centred around the railway station and the legendary Bahnhofstrasse, where most of the town’s shops and establishments are to be found. Although Zermatt is densely built, it has managed to preserve the authenticity and charm of a typical Valais village thanks to very strict town planning regulations. The old town has preserved many of its ancestral larch chalets and ‘raccards’, wooden granaries built on stilts. Wandering through this picture-postcard setting with its typical Swiss charm is undoubtedly one of the highlights of a stay in Zermatt.

Non-skiing Activities

In addition to its downhill skiing, Zermatt offers a wide range of outdoor activities. The ski lifts are within easy reach, making Zermatt a paradise for high-mountain excursions. Some of these are open all year round. There’s no need for long walks or crampons to discover high altitudes. Climb aboard the legendary Gornergrat cogwheel railway. In just half an hour, this famous route covers almost 1,500 metres of ascent, taking you from the centre of Zermatt to an altitude of 3,100 metres. There’s no doubt about it, this is one of the most beautiful excursions in Switzerland: set among a host of 4000m peaks, the Gornergrat allows you to sit comfortably facing the Matterhorn and enjoy a breathtaking view of the mountains. Zermatt is a must-see in the Alps, summer and winter alike, at the foot of the Matterhorn, the most famous mountain in the world. Find out more about Zermatt.
